MASAI Welcomes 2009 with a New Website

FROM THE EDITORIAL BOARD

As a non-government organization (NGO) for capacity building, the Management Advancement Systems Association, Inc. (MASAI) comes up with its new and hopefully, better website. Similar to its format in the past, this website features various sections.

Important events in the life of MASAI, its programs, services and institutional activities shall be in the News section. Issues shall feature the perspective of those working for people’s development on particularly urgent and compelling issues.

People-Oriented Management (POM) presents articles that contain the general principles of POM. These shall follow the “vignette type” stories to better demonstrate what MASAI advocates in terms of people-oriented management.

Focus on Development Workers has personality sketches of staff members of NGOs and people’s organizations. It shall show how they cope with the problems and challenges of working with and for the people.

Synthesis presents summaries of MASAI’s evaluations and training courses while Photo Gallery shall have pictures of MASAI activities. These sections shall come out every quarter.

The difficulty of describing how one works for genuine development is a challenge for groups like MASAI. How does one put into words the dynamics of a people’s organization? How does one illustrate the often difficult yet rewarding process of strengthening the capacity of both individuals and organizations?

To give life to concepts and theories in program management and to provide insights on the significance of working with and for the people is a challenge that MASAI shall try to address through this website.

We hope that MASAI’s work in training, evaluation and consultancy shall be explained more thoroughly in these sections. More importantly, we hope to further contribute to the strengthening of people’s and non-government organizations. In the meantime, happy reading!
